How is a rezoning case decided? How long does it take?
Rezoning involves filing a formal petition with the Planning Department. No rezoning can occur without a public hearing and a recommendation from the Planning Commission to the City Council. Special joint hearings of the City Council and Planning Commission are held four times a year – in January, April, July and October – to review all rezoning requests.
