How is a hard surface different than a carpet surface?

I disagree with what jv i said about carpet being “slower” than hardcourt. Carpet: 1) On carpet, the ball bounces low (like on grass) 2) Carpet courts almost always plays very fast (also like grass) 3) Carpet is generally more forgiving on the body than a hardcourt would be. You are more likely to see a player dive on a carpet than on a hardcourt. 4) Carpet courts would benefit serve & volley players and all-around players more. Hardcourt: 1) On hardcourt the ball bounces higher and the bounce is more predictable. Courts with lots of rubber in the top layer (Rebound Ace) make the ball bounce even higher than a normal hardcourt (more similar to clay). 2) “Rebound Ace” which is mostly a rubber court is a medium speed hardcourt which plays much slower than “Plexipave” or “DecoTurf” which are acrylic hardcourts over an asphalt base. Acrylic hardcourts can be medium speed, medium-fast or fast (depending on how the court is layered). More sand in top layer means it plays slower, less sand me
