How is a flashing feed distributor different?
Flashing feed distributors are normally used for two phase feeds that contain a much higher percentage of liquid than might be found in the feed to a vacuum tower, for instance. The flow to the distributor might be considered as slug flow and tends to be very violent. The purpose of the distributor is to absorb and dissipate the momentum of the liquid, and direct the liquid to the distributor tray floor while separating the vapor to overhead.
