How is a DVT diagnosed?
There are two main ways to prove that a DVT is present. A blood test can be done which measures if the body is actively breaking down a blood clot. If the test is positive it is evidence that a thrombosis is present somewhere. The other test is an ultrasound scan of the veins of the leg. The operator will be able to “see” the clots in the veins and show that the blood flow is reduced by the thrombosis.
