How is a breast lift different than breast augmentation?
A breast lift or mastopexy is a completely different operation than a breast augmentation. A lift raises the position of the nipple and areola and takes a tuck out of the lower part of the breast without changing the size or volume of the breast. An augmentation is pure volume addition to the breast without lifting it. Some breasts have sagged too far to be augmented and require a lift procedure before considering an augmentation.
