How is a book summary different from a book review?
A review presents the reviewer’s opinion of the book – its contents and the author’s writing style. A review attempts to judge the quality and claims of a book and praise or criticize a book based on the reviewer’s opinions. A book seeks only to present the major points of the book, without passing judgment on the claims, content or writer style. A book summary is a way to gain quick insight into what a book is all about and does not contain the opinions of anyone but the book’s author.
