How important it is to own a ruggedized notebook?
A. According to research by IDC (International Data Corporation) in 1998, 64% of notebook damage is caused by drops, 38% by spills, and 28% by crushing while LCDs and HDDs are reported to be the two components most often cited as suffering damage. The average cost of repairing or replacing a notebook is $1,200. U.S. corporations, for example, spent a total of $700 million in 1998 to repair and replace damaged notebooks. That figure is expected to go up to $1 billion by next year. As you may know, damaged notebooks result in several intangible losses to corporation. There include missed deadlines, lost data, employee frustration and a subsequent drop in productivity.
