How important is the quality of the telescopes components?
Simply put, the telescope comprises lenses and tubes: both are extremely important to the performance of the telescope, and at Gray & Company, we do not take any short cuts in terms of quality and design.The quality of the lens components determines both the viewed image, through clarity and focus, as one would expect, and the amount of light collected: cheaper lenses will not transmit as much light as those of high quality, meaning a loss of detail in lower than ideal light conditions. Additionally, over time, cheap lenses will deteriorate and sharpness of image will be lost. Gray lenses are produced in Germany using the most advanced technology, and immediately incorporating advances in that technology as it is developed over time. Likewise, the barrels we use are of the highest quality anodised alloy, which combines light weight with great strength and durability.
