How important is the education system in fostering a peace loving society?

Because more and more children are getting their education (scholastic and social) in institutional environments (schools, daycares, etc), it is very important. Parents are spending less and less time with their own children, and values are being taught by people outside of the home in many cases. It is a case by case situation, however, regarding how well the system is doing. Some schools have such huge ‘discipline’ problems, that learning of any kind goes by the wayside. School is not an environment that generally fosters peace or loving of any kind. There are wonderful exceptions, but most schools are not doing much to foster this idea. Parents need to get more involved in their children’s lives, take a pay cut to spend time with the kids. People don’t need new cars and palatial homes. Children observe this mentality of money and power. We, as a culture, need to stop sending this message and we will see more of a peace loving society, but not until then.

Times have changed, and it’s still changing. Society competitiveness is a contributing factor to this form of behaviour, causing people to ignore or forget to be kind and respectful to their fellowmen. Today it’s dog-eat-dog and many thrive on propaganda; many are too ignorant to admit they are wrong, and some cannot handle correction and criticism, whether good or negative. It’s always the other persons’ … One would think with so many scholars and well learned people, minds would make a more educated choice. Lack of good manners and training can go a long way. Loving your neighbours as you love yourself would be a good practice, and the first place to start to become a better human being. And some has too much time on their hands and just out to make mischief. (-: This is my perception, I could be totally wrong.
