How important is feedback in the process of writing a new book?
This depends upon who is giving the feedback and what type of writer you are. You must have someone who knows your genre and someone whom you trust for the feedback. Even a reader who reads contemporary category romance might not know what to tell you about a historical romance. Trust and knowledge come through experience with the person’s critiques. Ultimately YOU have to know what works for you. When I first started writing I was in a critique group that met 2 times a month. This kept me writing and gave me feedback all along. But once I started writing on deadline, this didn’t work. I had to write the entire book, and then get feedback. Also, once you have an editor, they are your feedback.
