How important is DEERS Registration for newborns?

0

DEERS registration is very important for all members of the military, their family members, civilian DOD employee and their family members as well. Newborns should be enrolled in DEERS within 7 days of the child’s birth. If your child is not enrolled in DEERS before your child’s first well baby appointment, you could receive a bill from the hospital treasury office for indebtedness. Also, TRICARE would not be able to assign your child a Primary Care Manager (PCM) if your child is not enrolled in DEERS. Appointments are easier, quicker and hassle free to make when a child is assigned a PCM. Save yourself some trouble, report your child’s birth to the nearest ID card/DEERS section in your community.
