How important is a properly installed windshield in the event of an accident?
This is a very important question, since it means your protection and safety could be compromised. The passenger side airbag deploys up and off of the windshield with extreme pressure and then to the passenger. If inferior or sub-standard urethanes are used with lengthy cure times, and you then drive your vehicle before the urethane is cured, the windshield would be ejected out of the vehicle, rendering the passenger side airbag useless. An even worse case scenario is in the the event of a rollover. The windshield would not be retained in the vehicle, causing the roof to collapse resulting in injury or death! It is very important to ask the installer or the shop what the “safe drive away time” is, especially when some shops use cheaper urethanes with longer drive times, cross their fingers and then send you on your way.
