Yes, surely a cinematographer job plays one of the most important part of a film. As a talented cinematographer brings life to the film, gives more beauty to the location in the movie than what it looks actually. There are many Hollywood and Bollywood cinematographers have made movies that are best known for their cinematography. If the cinematography job is excellent, it will enchant the audience to view the full movie with same enthusiasm, otherwise audience might soon lose interest, because of dull cinematography, and not-so-clear picturization. In Indian film Industry we place a director and cinematographer at the same level as both their roles are equally important.
