How important are skills in Mathematics and Statistics for studying on the Economics L100 course?
The study of economics at university level requires a good grounding in school mathematics and a willingness to use mathematics as a tool of reasoning and communication. Students take two mathematics courses in the first year designed to teach them the mathematics they will need for the rest of the degree course. Students are also required to take an appropriate course in statistics in the first year, and a course in quantitative economics and econometrics in the second year. In addition, mathematically and statistically oriented optional courses are available in the second and final years to students who wish to take them.
