How important are references, and who are the best people to get them from?
References are generally requested at a second interview or on a job application. The best people to secure references from are former professors and employers. Personal references from friends and clergy are not recommended. Be sure that you ask permission to list a person as a reference. It is also helpful if you give that person a copy of your resume for use during a reference check.
