How important are health screenings?
Just ask Gary TerBeest, database administrator with American Standard Business Services in La Crosse. He took advantage of a free skin cancer screening at Trane’s 2003 La Crosse health and wellness fair, and he’s glad he did.During a screening the attending dermatologist became suspicious of a bump in the crease of TerBeest’s nose. He suggested that TerBeest make an appointment with a dermatologist to have it removed. A week later, the bump was removed and sent to a lab for analysis. Several weeks later Terbeest received a letter notifying him that the bump was in fact a small skin cancer that could recur, and that TerBeest should see his dermatologist again in six months for another screening. The letter also stressed that TerBeest should regularly wear a hat and apply sunscreens. TerBeest says he’s glad he was able to take advantage of the free screening at the Trane health and wellness fair and is pleased to know such screenings will be made available to many other American Standard
