How important are “green-collar” jobs to Pennsylvania?
When politicians and pundits use the term “green jobs,” they are casting a very broad net. It can refer to any employment that specifically deals with the environment and alternative energy (such as wind-energy “farms”) or any jobs that support those industries (the steel workers who make the turbines to capture wind-energy). They can be advocates for energy efficiency and environmental policy change, or they can be businesses that simply take pains to operate with less impact on the environment. One thing for certain is that they are a big concern with some political leaders and the public, many of whom are pushing for more eco-friendly ways of living to combat high energy prices and the threat of global warming.
