How I got started DJing?
I started getting into music in middle school, when high school hit. I was interested in DJing because the background of my uncle’s being Dj’s included my father. My brother also was a DJ who was taught by one of my uncles so I would watch as they practiced with each other; seeing how they would play certain songs, and the way they move the record on the turn table. I said to myself, “this is what I want to do,” so I got serious with it. Every day, after school, I would go in the house and not even think about my homework to go downstairs to practice different routines of my own. I practiced every day on my own for 2 or 3 hrs until I got better and better. I was developing a technique and my skills were getting good enough to go out with my brother to his gigs to open up for him. On the weekends when he had gigs, I would go out with him to different club spots to watch him on the side so I could see what kind of music that he would play to see how the crowd reacts.
