How I get from Palenque, Chiapas, Mexico to Tikal, Guatemala?
A favorite trip for many travelers in southern Mexico is to go from the Mayan ruins of Palenque in Mexico to the towering pyramids in Tikal, Guatemala. 20 years ago, the trip would have taken days. You would have had to travel on dirt roads, over rivers and through almost unexplored jungle. Luckily, today the trip is much easier. To get from Palenque to Tikal all you have to do is go to any travel agency in Palenque and ask for a trip to Tikal. They all have one, and many of the agencies are actually selling trips on the same bus, so shop around, you can save about 10% if you find the right sales person. The minivans will pick you up at your hotel at about 6:00 a.m. You will then go on a 4 hour trip through the jungle to a town called Escudo Jaguar. Here you have to pass through Mexican immigrations at a small office near the docks. At the docks you will board small riverboats that will take you down the river over to the Guatemalan side. On the Guatemalan side you will be met by anoth
