How hot is the demand for executives to work for defense and homeland-security companies?
It’s high, especially for those with security clearances. Companies involved in all kinds of imaging and sensors are hiring. These areas are big, obviously as they relate to mapping and surveillance. It’s paramount to have a clearance because it takes so long to get one. Since Sept. 11, it’s taken several years to get one, even if you once had a clearance and let it lapse. There are shortages of people with these. What this means is that people tend to go around in circles, from one defense company to the next. It was the same when telecommunications was hot. Everybody did better with the next move. It’s like that now in the defense environment. People tend to change positions rather rapidly, not within their companies, but going from company to company.
