How high is the warehouse?
The warehouse is 32 metres in height, which is equivalent to a nine storey office building. The design of the warehouse is based on best practice design principles for what is called a High Bay Warehouse – a design that allows the building to go “up” increasing storage without contributing to urban sprawl. To be economically viable , the warehouse has to contain a minimum storage capacity of 55,000 pallets. Thirty-two metres is the minimum height required to achieve this style of distribution facility at the Northmead site. If the height was lower, this style of distribution facility could not have been built.
