How have we involved our stakeholders (service users, carers and staff) and how has this influenced our vision?

Service users, their carers, and staff were involved in the strategic review of adult mental health services. They were asked to think about ways for taking forward rehabilitation and respite care, looking particularly at services which better meet the needs of local people. These discussions identified that people want more personalised care that is close to their home whenever possible. They want reassurance that when they need intensive care or rehabilitation services, these will be available. The discussions generated the following proposals: • to have a 12-18 bed rehabilitation unit for people with complex needs who might otherwise have lengthy stays on hospital wards • to develop more supported housing schemes (such as Oakvale, Hilltop Cottages or the schemes offered by Horton Housing) • to review services available outside hospital to support people in crisis, or to provide respite care in preventing a crisis developing. These proposals were a good fit with the results of the tP
