How have parents responded to the use of learning logs as a homework and learning tool?
The response from parents has been very positive indeed. Parents like how the children are able to show in much greater detail what they have been learning in school for that day or in fact over the whole week. The learning log has enabled us to engage parents in the learning process far more than ever before. Parents often make comments in their childs log about their involvement in supporting their child in homework tasks. The sharing of learning objectives with parents via the learning log has proved to be a great success. Parents can see at a glance what the children have been learning about in school and can then support and encourage them in the pursuit of reaching learning targets. Parents have also commented on how proud they are of their children when a learning log has been completed. They all agree that the log will be something to treasure and share with their children when they grow up and move on to others things.
