How have Hurricanes Katrina and Rita affected Georgia hospitals?
Texas is the only other state that is housing more evacuees than Georgia. While this disaster was devastating to watch, our state, local, and federal governments stayed in close contact with our hospitals. Coordination and communication made it easier for us to understand what the needs were on the ground. Our hospitals were prepared to deliver care to evacuees, donate supplies and equipment, and help register these patients on the patient locater tracking system. We have worked very closely with Governor Perdue and his office to ensure that we are pro-active in addressing the health needs of evacuees who are in Georgia. 10.
