How have Black Angels spending their time in LA?
ALEX MAAS: I was just rehearsing with Stephanie and her girlfriend in a new side project we’re working on. But most of our time here is being spent rehearsing and preparing for this upcoming tour. SHOCKHOUND: What brought you to LA in the first place? MAAS: It was mainly to work with producer Dave Sardy [Oasis, Marilyn Manson, Jet]. We’d met up with him in Austin and discussed working together. We hung out and really liked him, so we went to his studio out there to record. SHOCKHOUND: How did being in LA affect the album? MAAS: That’s a good question, but I don’t know how to answer it. I’m still too close to the record to be able to see it like that. SHOCKHOUND: Did you spend much time outside of the studio while you recording in LA? MAAS: We were staying in the Valley, which is kind of removed from everything. But we were there for a few months, so we had a chance to hang out. It was actually really nice being in a different spot, and it’s really nice being in Southern California. We
