How has working as the Creative Director for RACHEL Rachel Roy inspired or influenced the way you design?
It has really freed me to simply design what I love. Because Rachel and I agree on most things fashion, I don’t have to question my decisions too much or guess too much about what she will like. Her vision is a very modern one, so I must constantly look to create newness, which is incredibly fun and inspiring. What does fashion mean to you? Fashion is motivation for me. I jump out of bed in the morning if I have something new to wear awaiting me. Fashion is constant evolution and a chance to re-create myself every day. It’s my armor, my entertainment, my obsession. If I’m not dressing myself or working on the collection, I’m dressing my daughter, my husband…I can’t help myself. I am completely absorbed! How do you balance life as a working mother? It’s really tough sometimes to balance work and family. I make breakfast for Violet every morning, help her get ready and walk her to school. And I am there to play a bit, read and put her to bed every night. I try to get home early enough
