How has women’s rights in North America and Asia contradict the gender equality in the 21st century?

Most people living in developed countries think that men and women possess the same rights, in other words gender equality. Numerous historical events until now, such as the industrialization and globalization, have slowly brought out the gender equality. Unfortunately, gender equality is yet no more but a shallow surface of human’s consciousness. Beneath its surface, unequal rights among men and women are present. The equality between men and women is getting closer to its focal point. However, a long path is left for our descendants to reach perfect gender equality.
