How has the world financial crisis affected Dartmouth?
February 9, 2009 The investment return on the Dartmouth endowment dropped 18 percent in the six months ending December 31, 2008. The endowment funds more than a third (35%) of the College-only operating budget. The market value of the Dartmouth endowment dropped $700 million to an estimated $3 billion at the end of 2008. The College is now running a deficit. In order to bring the budget into balance, the Administration has announced a Budget Reconciliation Plan on February 9, 2009.
