How has the recent economic downturn impacted Camp Heartland?
In the wake of the economic recession, major donors have scaled back giving and contributions from foundations have been dwindled or been frozen completely. In the past 24 months there has been a 42% decrease in revenues. One Heartland has cut expenses by over one million dollars to align with current revenues yet, due to creative and purposeful planning, program services have not been reduced. While there are many non-profit organizations that will not be able to weather this global economic crisis, One Heartland is hopeful to persevere. While it was painful to cut several staff positions, lower salaries and diminish benefits, the focus of the organization has always been the families that we serve. One Heartland is proud that despite this million dollar drop in contributions, we have not cut the number of campers that we serve.
