How has the public been involved in the design of the new Public Safety Building?

Since the project was approved by voters, Salt Lake City has held four public workshops designed to gather public input from the citizens regarding the vision for the project and how the site and building design will relate to the City, Library and the Civic Campus. A Summer Public Workshop was held on Tuesday, July 8th at 6pm at the current Public Safety Building in downtown Salt Lake City. Representatives from the City, David Hart of MOCA Systems (Public Safety Building Project Manager), and newly hired GSBS Architects were on hand to give an update of the process and receive public input on the early design stage of the new Public Safety Building. Mark Johnson, an Urban Planner from Civitas, reviewed site use and public entry options, as well as concepts such as shared streets and mixed use development. He presented pictures of public spaces from around the world. Robin Carbaugh, a Sustainable Urban Planner, facilitated the Workshop and introduced sustainable based design practices
