How has the Chapter addressed the impact that managed care is having on social work?

0

The Chapter initiates and keeps contacts with major managed care and insurance companies and strongly advocates to assure that social workers have a major presence on all panels. This past spring, Chapter leadership and staff successfully negotiated with the Commissioner of Mental Health for the inclusion of social workers in private practice on the Medicaid out-patient panel. Currently, social workers in agencies are eligible for the panel. As of July 1, 2001, the Mental Health Network that serves the Medicaid population will be accepting applications from LICSWs in private practice for the out-patient provider panel.
