The $1.5 billion was derived after an analysis of anticipated requirements over a 5 year period. It is impossible to predict the ceiling, which is a function of other agency non-mandatory usage. All Commerce Bureaus will use COMMITS as the preferred source of IT solutions. Commerce alone spends about $300 million each year on IT.
