In 1948 the then Labour Government (a) Created the National Health Service, (b) British Railways, (c) Had already Nationalised the Coal, Iron and Steel industries. Items (b) & (c) were de- nationalised and sold off by Thatcher and her cronies in the 1980s and 1990s. Then (1948) as now we had a Labour Government. In 1948 most of the Country agreed with and supported the Government. In 2006, we also have a Labour Government which is detested and reviled from both ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ .
