In the last 20 years one of the largest electrical assembly centers in the world has shrunk to only one building making refrigerators. The tobacco industry which considered Kentucky such a strong base of operations poured so much money into the coffers of the Commonwealth that the columns that support the porch roof of the State Senate Office Building are decorated with carvings of tobacco leaves. The industry has left the country settling in the Orient where smoking laws are lax. The largest employer in Kentucky is the delivery business.
