A.Crop biotechnology is being used in two major ways to enhance human nutrition: to improve global food security by making more food available, and by enhancing the nutritional composition. Examples of current work being done are seen in rice grown with higher levels vitamin-A (called Golden Rice) and potatoes with higher protein levels. These biotech products are monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), USDA and FDA. The FDA analyzes whether or not the insertion of a foreign gene has altered the composition and/or nutritional content of the crop.
