How has flow regime changed in Clyde River – Jervis Bay?
Change in Flow Regimes: Generally higher avarasge flows occur during the periods from February through to the end of June. There is another period around August/September and again in October when high flows occur. Low flows typicall occur between November and January and again in July. Peak flows typically occur during February/March. Most of the rivers and creeks in the Clyde valley are unregulated, ie there are no major storages to control flows and therefore most water users rely on natural flows or small structures for their water supplies. However, the flows in these rivers will still have been affected to some extent by developments in the catchment (ie urbanisation, changes in land practices, clearing, etc) and developments in the town water supply, hydroelectric dams, and weirs. The infrastructure presently in place along all the unregulated streams in the Clyde catchment does not have the potential to take large proportions of medium and flood flows.
