How has every dairy farmer benefited from CWT?
CWT uses two programs to achieve its goal of strengthening and stabilizing milk prices – herd retirements, and assisting CWT members in exporting dairy products. Since CWT began operations, its four herd retirements have removed 200,000 cows that produced 3.8 billion pounds of milk a year and put a total of $3.3 billion in dairy farmers’ pockets. The on-going export assistance program has helped the milk equivalent of more than 2 billion pounds of cheese, butter, anhydrous milk fat, and whole milk powder to 51 countries on four continents.
