How has DEP modified the original data?

0

DEP has transformed GIS datalayers (Shapefiles, Coverages, and Image files) originally compiled and digitized in the Connecticut State Plane Coordinate System from NAD 27 to NAD 83. Consequently, for some GIS datalayers, the coordinate system described in the original metadata will conflict with the coordinate system documented in DEP’s Data Guides. Although most of the Shapefiles are based on GIS data originally stored in ArcInfo coverage format, the names of the corresponding Shapefiles may not be the same as the original ArcInfo coverages mentioned in the metadata originally produced by the source agency. The metadata pages are linked to the DEP Data Guides. Also, for ease of use, DEP consistently excluded ArcInfo coverage fields from the Shapefiles that were considered unnecessary such as cover#, cover-id, from-node, to-node, length, area, and perimeter.
