How hard was it leaving club gymnastics for strictly high school competition?
I did that three years ago. It was hard and I thought I’d end up going back, but I loved the high school participation. It was so much more fun. At Yellow Jackets I was starting to feel a bit distant from gymnastics. At Fenwick I felt like I did when I was younger about the sport. There was more pressure in club gymnastics. High school is like family. You’ve had some bad luck at state individuals. My sophomore year I did OK. I placed in three events: third in floor, and fourth in vault and beam in Beverly. But this past Sunday I sprained an ankle in my opening event, same thing that happened my junior year in Stoneham. I fell on floor. What are your best scores in high school? They are 9.4 in floor, 9.3 for vault and 9.2 for beam in my senior year. Did you set any goals for your senior year? Not individually; only to help the team qualify for the state gymnastics meet and we realized that goal. We had eight freshman and one, Meg Delory, has been outstanding. Carol Hartigan and Diana Ta
