How hard is “The Dying Swan” from swan lake?
FYI, The Dying Swan isn’t from the ballet Swan Lake. It’s actually from an old ballet called Carnival of the Animals and is mostly performed nowadays by itself. To answer your question, it’s mostly all bourres so if you really practice those to perfection then you’ve pretty much got it made. The other important factor for this variation (and all “swan” variations, so as to not look too ridiculous,) is to learn how to do the port de bras (arms) correctly. I’ve posted a link of Natalia Makarova (my favorite ballerina growing up whose arms were gorgeous!) who talks about it as well as her performing it, and Maya Plisetskya (who was famous for it), and of course the legendary Anna Pavlova who it was first choreographed for way back in the day. I urge you to check out a few others to see the different interpretations. Good luck! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IC_sbh4M…
