The pan flute employs a similar technique to the concert flute (insomuch as sound production is concerned), so with some practice, you should find it quite possible (and enjoyable) to play pan flute. As you’re playing different individual pipes, rather than a single tube, each requires a slightly different amount of air/angle of attack, and it could take you some time to get fully accustomed to this, but generally speaking, the basics are quite similar. Of course, you’ll have to get used to changing pipes rather than moving your fingers in order to produce different pitches, but with some work that shouldn’t be a huge problem. As for whether they make chromatic pipes, yes they do exist, but a quality set can be very expensive (several hundred dollars in most cases), so I would suggest sticking to a decent diatonic set of pipes for now.
