How hard is it to get into NYU?
NYU is a selective school, but not as insanely difficult to get into as a lot of people think. Its business school is more difficult to get into than the regular arts and sciences school. The average GPA of high school students who went to NYU was 3.6 with an average SAT score of 2050 so that’s definitely doable. You just have to show that you’re well-rounded with extracurriculars, leadership skills, some honors/AP courses. Being in the top 10% of your class helps too. I would say GPA and SAT scores are most important to NYU. A decent number of students from my high school who got into NYU didn’t have any outstanding extracurricular activities or anything. They just had a decent SAT score, decent GPA, several honors classes, a few AP classes, and they had no trouble getting in. You should take on at least 3 AP courses your junior year and at least 3 AP courses your senior year. Study a lot for the SAT’s to get at least a 2050 and secure leadership positions in your extracurricular acti
It doesn’t matter where you live. It depends on what major you pick. Like, they have a really good math and business department so those might be harder to get into. When I applied 4 years ago I was accepted but didn’t go because I decided to go with a major they didn’t offer. But I had loans, work study, etc. I don’t remember how much scholarship i received. My GPA was 3.5, SAT 1400/1600 (the old SAT). I don’t think it’s that difficult to get into but it’s hard to get financial aid because they are sooo expensive.
