It is extrememly difficult for a foreign citizen to get a job in Mexico. There are PLENTY of unemployed Mexicans with and without degrees. No reputable school would hire you to teach English without a degreee in ESL and a teaching degree. Even then, the MOST you could hope for would be $5.00 an hour.The ONLY way to get an FM3 visa with a work permit is to find an employer to give you a job and write a letter to immigration stating he cannot find a Mexican for that job. He then sponsors your work visa and your visa is tied to that specific job. Jobs in Mexico generally pay less than $5.00 a day! There are plenty of university educated, English speaking Mexicans working as waiters. I have know qualified American teachers who thiought it would be a breeze to teach English here ( all Americans seem to think that)…she nearly starved for almosat a year…then went through a series of jobs where they never got around to paying her, or decided they didn{t need her after all.
