How hard is it to find a job teaching ESL?
This answer changes with the wind. Currently the situation in Toronto is not great because Toronto has just been through the ‘summer of SARS’ which had a huge impact on the students who travel to Toronto to study. Vancouver and other parts of Canada were not as negatively impacted; however, North American destinations for overseas students were generally slower because of the threat of war last year and then the war itself. The winter time is generally slower in Toronto and other parts of North America and the summer is the busiest season. As for teaching overseas, this also can change quickly. At this time, there is a lot of work in China, a fair amount of work in Korea and less work available in Japan than other years. Brazil is a good destination, while other countries in Latin America which are in current economic difficulties are not good destinations. But keep in mind this always changes. 1.14.
