Well speaking from experience as I was a chef for over 20+ years here in Canada and did stints in Jamaica, Singapore and Tokyo Japan, and what you see is a total farce, if anyone of the chefs I worked for acted as pompous and mean spirited as him they would have been run through with a knife, take and locked in the freezer or dumped head first into a 60 gallon stockpot and boiled to a froth. What he does is for entertainment values, there are some chefs with large egos that have emotional issues and are hard to work for, but they are not like and turn over the staff very much. I only worked for a foul mouth egotistical chef once, he used his position to call people names, make racial comments and degrade others, but he was just that type, and you got use to it, I did not like it but knew I was only with him a few days a week and that was it. So the real answer to your question is no, egos are very large and so times people are unpredictable, but no one in there right mind would try the
