How hard does issues of divorce, adoption etc. affect the children?
Divorce, or simple defacto separation as in my case, can affect the child differently depending on how s/he is. I was only four, so it wasn’t a problem for me. But if your child is ten or so, or older, then you will need to communicate very directly and consistently with them in order to stop them from withdrawing emotionally. Adoption is another matter entirely.
