How GPS and RS could be used in GIS?
Remote sensing IS the basis of today’s GIS technology, not the other way around. Satellite images provide the underlying raster layer for any other vector map “layers” that are made for a geodatabase like the one I made for my master’s thesis of the Wichita Mountains in southwestern OK. GPS just makes the locations more accurate. If you want to see what could be done with ERDAS Imagine 8.3 and command line ArcInfo 7.2.1 and ArcView 3.0 and 3.2, you can go to inter-library loan and check out my master’s thesis. You can also try to find some TIGER files for your city and state. Each state usually has a GIS website where you can look at maps online.
