How good my knowledge of foreign language shall be?
A very good knowledge of foreign language is not necessary. There are some universities that offer entire programmes in English in the northern European countries such as Sweden, Finland, Denmark, The Netherlands and also in Germany, France, Spain and Italy. Although you may need to be able to speak some foreign language to ‘get by’ in day-to-day situations. We will assess your language abilities in order to see whether you may study in that country. Generally we would expect you to have at least post-A level language capabilities in order to effectively follow classes abroad. If you decide to study in your host’s language, you may wish to start improving your language skills as soon as possible. To learn a foreign language which is not widely spoken or taught abroad you can attend Erasmus Intensive Language Courses (EILCs) in the particular country. The course usually takes from 3 to 8 weeks. You do not have to pay the tuition fee. Nevertheless, you will pay for accommodation and food
