The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology or IIST is India’s national institute for the study and development of space science. IIST is sponsored by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under Department of Space, Government of India. Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, is the Chancellor of IIST IIST offers graduate and postgraduate programs in space science and technology, and also serves as a research center. The institute offers the following undergraduate programmes (4-Years duration) 1. B.Tech. (Physical Sciences) with space applications in the areas of Astronomy, Earth System Science, Astrophysics, Planetary Sciences and Remote Sensing. 2. B.Tech. (Aerospace Engineering) with provision to specialize in Aerodynamics, Flight Dynamics, Propulsion, Aerospace Structures, and Manufacturing Technology. 3. B.Tech. (Avionics) with provision to specialize in Digital Electronics, RF and Microwaves, Control Systems, Software Engineering. Admission to IIST
