How good is the Sony VAIO video editing setup?
I asked this question on rec.video.desktop and got only one meaningful reply; it doesn’t sound like people are buying these machines with video editing in mind. I’d like to thank Trek 5000 for his (or her) thoughtful comments. The good news is that what’s provided by Sony apparently works fine. Our respondant had no complaints about the basic video capture and editing; unfortunately, features were rudimentary and he soon outgrew the included software. He had a great deal of trouble with Adobe Premiere LE, but finally figured out that it was because of bad CODEC settings. Now, he says “editing/output went fantastic”. He’s going to upgrade to Premiere standard, and will keep me up to date on progress. In the store, I’ve noticed that the Sony computers seem to be more messed up than the average demo machine. As a result, I’m not convinced that using them for video editing is a good idea. I’d still stick to the Mac, but the good news is that VAIO may be a viable alternative for the PC love
